We drove from Warren, MI to Bayfield, Wisconsin on Sunday 26, July of 2009 carrying everything we thought could possibly fit onto the boat and make our lives more comfortable. We used every available square inch of space in a pick up truck bed, as well as the trunk and interior of the towed car, to haul anything we couldn't do without.
We had to stop and get a beer at UP Chuck's. Sue love's the name of the bar!! You can buy the bar and the inn for $149K. What a deal!!
We rented a storage unit near the boat to allow us to methodically load everything we had on the boat. We labelled every storage location and recorded where we put everything for future reference. We were very surprised when everything fit, so we went to the store for more. We did not load Bob and Evelyn's dog, Dusty. Find her in the picture!!
Bayfield, WI is a great town with a lot of history and a population of 611. We fell in love with it. It is the home of the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore. There are 22 islands starting just offshore, only one of which is inhabited. It, Madeline Island, seen in the picture below (double click to enlarge) is the largest and not part of the National Lakeshore. The islands were the last place that John Kennedy visited the day before his trip to Dallas.
